Short answer
For electrolytes, Himalayan pink salt and table salt are almost the same thing. Both are about 98 percent sodium chloride, so a gram of either delivers roughly the same sodium, around 390 milligrams. Pink salt does contain trace minerals, but they are present in such small amounts that they add nothing meaningful to your electrolyte intake. The real differences are what is added to table salt (iodine and anti-caking agents) and what is left out of pink salt (those additives). How much do they actually differ on minerals?
Table salt is refined sodium chloride, usually 99 percent or more, with iodine added and an anti-caking agent to keep it pouring. Himalayan pink salt is mined and minimally processed, which leaves it at roughly 98 percent sodium chloride. The pink colour comes from trace iron and other minerals making up the remaining 2 percent or so.
That 2 percent is where the marketing lives. Pink salt is often sold on a claim of containing 84 minerals. The number is technically defensible and practically irrelevant, because those minerals are spread across a fraction of the salt. To get a useful dose of, say, potassium or magnesium from pink salt alone, you would have to eat an amount of salt that no hydration plan would ever recommend.
Do the trace minerals in pink salt help with hydration?
Not in any amount that registers. A serving of salt large enough to give you a meaningful potassium or magnesium dose from trace minerals would push your sodium far past what you want in one sitting. The trace minerals are real, but at the doses you actually consume they are rounding errors.
This is the quiet part most pink-salt marketing skips. The mineral that does the work in any salt is sodium. Everything else in the pink crystals is along for the ride at a level your body will not notice. If you want potassium and magnesium in doses that matter, they have to be added on purpose, not extracted from a few extra grams of rock salt.
So why use Himalayan pink salt at all?
Because of what it does not contain. Table salt typically carries an anti-caking agent and added iodine. Neither is dangerous, but if the goal is a short, clean ingredient list, an unrefined salt with nothing added is the simpler choice. You get sodium chloride and nothing you have to explain.
That is the only honest reason to prefer pink salt for an electrolyte product: it is unrefined and additive-free, not because the trace minerals are doing something. What about iodine in table salt?

How much sodium does each one give you?

The mistake both salts share on their own

Potassium works with sodium to move fluid in and out of cells, and magnesium supports normal muscle and nerve function. A salt alone covers one of the three and leaves the other two empty.
